My brothers and sisters are wanting to get a canvas print of the kids and grandkids to give to our parents and grandparents, but I can’t seem to understand the difference between the 2 other than the huge price difference. Any help would be great! Also, any suggestions on where to go to get good quality, but a decent price?

A Canvas print is the result of an image being printed on canvas and stretched, then put on a frame and set up for display. Canvas prints of a photo can be done easily. Getting canvas printing done is the best way of preserving a photo as they tend to last for centuries. If you have photo which you want to preserve for the future generations, getting canvas prints done of it instead of putting it into a photo album is a wonderful idea. Canvas printing is something that has been done for a long time now. Reproduction of original art work using offset printing was pretty common. But since the 1990’s, giclee printing and Repligraph has become more common. Not only do they last longer, they are also easier to do.
The printing is usually done on cotton or Poly canvas, which is a cheaper alternative. After the process of printing is over, the canvas is trimmed to the wanted size. Then it is stapled or glued to a wooden panel or a traditional stretcher bar. Next, either a frame is used or a gallery wrap is done. Gallery wrap implies that the print is designed in a way that it continues around the edges of the stretcher. The gallery wrap is a good idea if you want a 3-dimensional effect. Usually canvas prints made for mounting on the wall weigh about 400 gm.
If you want a favorite image to be transformed into canvas prints in UK, trust the internet to offer you a solution. There are a lot of online companies based in the UK which will make you a custom canvas suiting your preferences. They are inexpensive and will not burn a whole in your pocket. Opt for a company which will be using archival ink and canvas for your canvas print UK. They will last longer and have a lesser chance of colors fading with time. Choose the kind of frame you want with care. A low-quality wooden frame will hamper the picture quality which you certainly won’t want. It is best that the image you want to print is a digital one with a high resolution. The print will come out well.
Choosing the canvas photo paper is an important consideration which you need to pay attention to. There are three types of canvas papers available: matte, glossy and semi-matte. Decide on the kind of effect you want your print to have. Choosing a light-weight canvas paper will cost you cheap but you have to then do with a low-quality print. The print that will be created will not be of a very high quality. If it is an important critical photo you want to print, choose a paper that has advanced coatings. A glossy paper will give a shiny effect.
Choosing a glossy paper will produce the best-quality image with highest color density. Getting a custom canvas print done has never been so easy with so many options available.

Four or five of the may look identical but they are not – Only variations in the mounting shapes. Typically, these are painted on canvas in oils or acrylics. Easiest procedure: [1] Tack one large canvas or coated paper over a large piece [say 3 ft x 4 ft for instance] of plywood or hardboard; OR simply paint directly on 1/2″ – 1″ thick Rhino Board. [Rhino Board is simply thick Foam Core Board]. [2] If using canvas, place 1″ strips painters tape vertically every 12″ or so, depending upon the overall size of the base. Paint directly over the tape as if it weren’t there. BEFORE the paint has dried, remove the tape. The white backing showing through is where you will cut and separate the painted pieces for mounting. Of course, if using coated paper, the finished painting will need to be dry mounted or glued on Rhino Board. [3] If you are not a decent artist, you could simply scan the Internet for HI-RES photos, download them onto a disk and have them commercially printed as posters. [4] You can also project picture and then trace outlines with a pencil and then paint the images. After that, you can cut and mount them on a backing yourself [which will save you TONS of money]. You can also transfer images to the canvas or paper with an opaque projector [rent or buy one]. Good luck!

A photo on canvas can be the perfect gift for a loved one on a special occasion. Or it could be the missing piece in completing your own interior decorating project. But before rushing out to have your portrait enlarged and professionally printed to canvas, letâs investigate a little more about what a canvas photo is anyway.
A photo on canvas is a beautifully enlarged canvas reproduction of your beloved and cherished photo. These masterpieces are created by digitally uploading your image (or mailing it if you have a print photograph) to a custom canvas printing shop. There a digital artist applies a personalized touch and âbrush strokesâ to your printing as it is applied to the canvas fabric. The canvas fabric used is a heavy duty plain-woven cotton that gives your print a distinct texture. In many cases, the quality of these canvas prints is so amazing that these pieces can be passed down as family heirlooms.
When shopping around the various online canvas print shops, you should look for a vendor that is experienced and uses the highest quality printing machines. Also, be sure to ask what kind of inks the shop is using. You are looking for a place that uses âsolventâ, UV-protected inks. Use of these inks will give your print museum archival quality and ensure color fastness.
One step in the canvas printing process that many lesser-known vendors may choose to skip over is the treatment of the photo with multiple coats of protective chemical spray. This spray is clear and gives your canvas photo two additional benefits: 1) it makes your print more abrasion-resistant and 2) gives your photo on canvas additional UV protection. Make sure to ask about this!
Lastly, before finalizing any online order, check the vendorâs return/customer service policy. What you are looking for here is a âguarantee youâll love it or weâll re-do itâ kind of policy. Anything less than this and keep shopping around. You are investing a decent amount of money in a very personal affect and you should expect nothing less than total satisfaction.
Once you have ordered and received your new canvas print (which, by the way, should be packaged and shipped with inordinate caution), you should find yourself extremely satisfied upon viewing the final product. If not, stop right there and give them a call to take advantage of that return policy.
But assuming you are satisfied with the canvas photo, itâs time to find the perfect spot to hang it. Or maybe it is time to give it as a gift. Either way, youâve successfully completed the process of converting your chosen photo into a lovely canvas print. Enjoy!

When selling photographs has anybody had luck when using Photoshop filters like watercolor, fresco, etc? I like the artistic value of some shots with the filters to make them not seem like photos. What are some opinions about trying to sell tweaked photos like that. Also, would this work if these were glicee prints on canvas?? Would they really look like paintings? My years of experience has always been w/ film. I’m behind the times w/ digital, but like the possibilities.. Please send any opinions about selling digital prints using different ‘artsy’ procedures.
