Printing on Canvas?

Published by nikimedia at 2:07 pm under Uncategorized

I am an owner of a Sign Company and want to offer Canvas prints but am unhappy with my prints so far. I am printing on a Mutoh wide format printer. It can print up to 1200×1200 dpi. I have tried a number of different brands of canvas, but, am still unhappy with the clarity. Printing the same photo directly on vinyl gives me a much clearer print.
Taking into account that this printer outputs a beautiful print when printing directly on vinyl, can anyone tell me why the canvas prints are not up to par? (last vinyl printed on was by Bulldog and was the orange dot line).

Is it possible that you’re selecting the wrong type of media when sending the print job to the printer? I don’t have any experience with Mutoh printers, but I know that with inkjets you have to make sure the correct type of media is selected for the print job, otherwise it won’t look right. I’ve printed many times on Epson Canvas with an Epson R1800, R2400 and 4800 and they always come out right.

Also, make sure that you use the correct ICC profiles. The ICC profiles can be found on the paper manufacturer’s website.

    Good luck.
